A CAMECA IMS 1280 high-resolution ion microprobe is to be installed in the Centre for Microscopy, Characterisation and Analysis (CMCA) at The University of Western Australia, in Perth (cmca.uwa.edu.au). The ion microprobe will be a flagship instrument of the Australian Microscopy and Microanalysis Research Facility (AMMRF), a national infrastructure joint venture of Australian university-based microscopy and microanalysis centres that provides state-of-the-art analytical capabilities to enable world-class research.

With the existing Cameca NanoSIMS 50, the new instrument will create a truly unique world-class analysis laboratory at UWA.
