Dr Janet Muhling

Research Interests:

Understanding the geological processes involved in the formation of rocks by Investigating the textural and compositional relationships of the minerals they are made from.

Areas of Expertise:

* Polarizing light microscopy

* SEM

* X-ray mapping

* ED and WD microanalysis

Current Students:

* Mrs Dana Crisan (PhD): Modelling exposure to traffic-related air pollutants using spatial and temporal interactions.

Current Projects:

* Petrogenesis, alteration and metamorphism of basaltic rocks from the Fortescue Group, Western Australia.

* The study of rare accessory minerals as tracers of the mechanisms, timing and rates of geological processes in rocks.

* P-T-t paths revealed by granulite-facies metapelites from the Narryer terrane.

* The mineralogy and formation of manganese ore from the east Pilbara region.
